Curve fitting
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004816
The process of constructing a mathematical function that best fits a series of data points, often subject to constraints. In meteorology, this technique is used to model atmospheric profiles, interpolate between observations, or derive relationships between different meteorological variables. Common methods include least squares regression and spline interpolation.
