Regression line

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008498

A straight line drawn through a scatter plot of data points that best represents the linear relationship between two variables, as determined by regression analysis. This line minimizes the sum of the squared vertical distances from each data point to the line. In meteorology, it visually depicts trends or correlations between atmospheric variables, such as pressure and temperature.
