Curve fitting
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000928
The process of constructing a mathematical function that best approximates a series of data points. In geophysics, this technique is applied to model seismic velocities, well log responses, or potential field data. The goal is to find a curve that captures the trend of the data while minimizing the error between the curve and the points.
