Lagrangian equations of motion

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006838

Mathematical expressions that describe the motion of a fluid parcel by following its trajectory through space and time. These equations are formulated in a coordinate system that moves with the fluid, making them suitable for analyzing the forces acting on individual elements. They are often used in atmospheric and oceanic modeling to track the movement of tracers.
