Lagrangian equations

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006837

A set of mathematical equations that describe the motion of a system in terms of generalized coordinates and velocities, derived from the Lagrangian function. In fluid dynamics, these equations follow individual fluid parcels as they move through space. They provide an alternative formulation to Newton's laws of motion.
