Micrometeorology

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007340

The branch of meteorology concerned with the study of atmospheric processes and phenomena on a small scale, over distances of less than one kilometer and short time periods. It focuses on the physics of the atmospheric boundary layer, including turbulent diffusion, energy fluxes, and the transport of heat, momentum, and mass near the Earth's surface. Micrometeorological measurements are used to quantify the exchange rates of atmospheric pollutants and greenhouse gases between the surface and the atmosphere.
