Skip effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008918
A phenomenon in radio wave propagation where signals are received at a distance from the transmitter but not in the immediate vicinity. This occurs when radio waves are refracted or reflected by the ionosphere, allowing them to skip over areas close to the source. The skip distance varies with frequency, ionospheric conditions, and the angle of radiation.
