Sky wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008924
A radio wave that travels upward into the atmosphere and is reflected or refracted back to Earth by the ionosphere. This propagation mechanism allows radio signals to be received over long distances, beyond the line of sight. The effectiveness of sky wave propagation depends on the frequency of the radio wave and the state of the ionosphere.
