Standard propagation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009197

The typical behavior of radio waves in the atmosphere under average atmospheric conditions, where the refractive index decreases with height at a rate that causes radio waves to bend slightly towards the Earth. This bending extends the radio horizon beyond the optical horizon. It is often characterized by an effective Earth radius that is 4/3 times the actual Earth radius.
