Substandard propagation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009352
An atmospheric condition where radio waves are refracted less than normal, causing them to travel in a straighter path than usual. This phenomenon results in a reduced radio horizon and weaker signal reception over distances that would typically be covered. It occurs when the refractive index of the atmosphere decreases more slowly with height than the standard atmospheric profile.
