Frictional torque
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005797
A rotational force that opposes the angular motion of a fluid or object due to friction. In the atmosphere, it represents the twisting force exerted by the Earth's surface on the atmospheric column, influencing the rotation of air masses. This torque is particularly relevant in the spin-down of cyclones and anticyclones near the surface.
