Momentum flux
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007394
The rate of transfer of momentum per unit area, often occurring vertically through the atmosphere due to turbulent eddies or horizontally by advection. This flux represents the stress exerted by the wind on the Earth's surface or between different atmospheric layers. It is a key component in understanding boundary layer dynamics and surface-atmosphere interactions.
