Surface wind stress
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009456
The tangential force exerted by the wind on the surface of the ocean or land, representing the transfer of momentum from the atmosphere to the underlying surface. This force drives ocean currents and generates surface waves, and it influences the exchange of heat and moisture between the air and water. It is typically expressed in units of Pascals (N/m²).
