Pressure stress

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008133

The force per unit area exerted by a fluid, such as air, on a surface. In meteorology, it describes the mechanical stress caused by atmospheric pressure differences acting on objects or within the atmosphere itself. This concept is applied in fluid dynamics to model atmospheric flows and their interactions with terrain.
