Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009737

The force exerted by a fluid flow on a boundary surface, tending to move or deform the surface. In atmospheric science, this can refer to the stress exerted by wind on the Earth's surface, influencing processes like soil erosion or the movement of sand dunes. It is a measure of the shear stress at the interface between the air and the ground.
