Horizontal pressure force
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006276
The force exerted on an air parcel due to differences in atmospheric pressure across a horizontal distance. This force acts from areas of higher pressure to areas of lower pressure, driving the initial motion of air. It is a primary force in the atmosphere, responsible for initiating wind and influencing its direction.
