Acoustic mode
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000044
A specific pattern of elastic wave propagation within a medium, characterized by its frequency, wavelength, and particle motion. In acoustic logging, different modes, such as compressional, shear, and Stoneley waves, travel through the formation and borehole fluid. Analyzing these modes provides information about rock mechanical properties, porosity, and permeability.
