Tubing broach

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003932

A downhole tool with hardened, sharp-edged surfaces run on wireline or slickline to clear minor obstructions from the inside of production tubing. It scrapes away scale, cement residue, or metal burrs left from perforating, restoring the tubing to its full internal diameter. A broach is often run before deploying other downhole equipment, such as plugs or logging tools, to confirm a clear passage.
