Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001653
A cylindrical tool run on wireline or coiled tubing into a wellbore to verify that the tubing or casing is clear of obstructions and has the correct internal diameter. It is designed to a specific outer diameter, slightly smaller than the nominal internal diameter of the pipe. If the gauge ring passes freely, it confirms the passage is clear for subsequent tools or equipment.
