Gauge tank
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001654
A calibrated vessel of a known volume used at the wellsite to accurately measure the flow rate of oil or water produced from a well during a test. Fluids from the separator are diverted into the tank, and the time taken to fill a specific volume is recorded to calculate the production rate in barrels per day. These tanks are equipped with sight glasses and sample points for fluid analysis, with capacities ranging from small 50-barrel portable units to larger permanent installations.
