Gaussian collocated cosimulation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001655
A geostatistical simulation technique used to generate multiple realizations of a primary variable, conditioned by a secondary variable that is sampled at the same locations. It assumes a Gaussian distribution for both variables and uses the correlation between them to improve the estimation of the primary variable. This method is applied when a densely sampled secondary variable, like seismic impedance, can inform a sparsely sampled primary variable, such as porosity.
