Gauge hole
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001651
A wellbore that has been drilled to the same diameter as the drill bit that created it. A hole is considered in-gauge when its diameter has not been enlarged by formation instability or reduced by swelling clays or other obstructions. Caliper logs are run to measure the actual hole diameter and verify if sections are in-gauge.
