Tubing displacement
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003933
The volume of fluid displaced by the steel of a tubing string, expressed in barrels per foot or cubic metres per metre, which is the metal volume and not the internal volume. It determines how much fluid returns to surface or must be added to the trip tank as tubing is run or pulled. Tubing capacity, by contrast, is the volume of the bore, which sets the amount of fluid needed to fill or flush the tubing.
