Displacement fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001121
A fluid used to push another fluid out of a wellbore or pipeline, typically during cementing operations or well completion. It is designed to be compatible with both the fluid being displaced and the fluid replacing it, preventing contamination or adverse reactions. The density and rheology of the displacement fluid are carefully controlled to achieve efficient and complete removal of the previous fluid.
