Mercury displacement method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002324
A laboratory technique used to determine the bulk volume of a core sample by measuring the volume of mercury it displaces. The core is immersed in mercury, and the displaced volume is precisely measured. This method is often used as a step in calculating porosity and grain density from core samples.
