Core analysis
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004277
The laboratory study of rock samples, called cores, recovered from a wellbore to determine their physical and chemical properties. These measurements provide direct evidence of reservoir characteristics, including porosity, permeability, fluid saturation, grain density, and mineralogy. The analysis is divided into routine core analysis (RCAL), which measures basic properties, and special core analysis (SCAL), which examines more complex rock-fluid interactions.
