Preserved core

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002910

A rock sample taken from a wellbore that has been treated to maintain its original reservoir conditions, such as fluid saturation, temperature, and pressure, as closely as possible. This involves sealing the core in wax, plastic, or metal tubes immediately after retrieval to prevent alteration. Preserved cores are used for detailed laboratory analyses to determine reservoir properties like permeability, porosity, and fluid distribution.
