Buoyancy method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000493
A laboratory technique for determining the bulk density or grain density of a rock sample by measuring its weight in air and then submerged in a fluid of known density. The difference in weight, combined with Archimedes' principle, allows for the calculation of the sample's volume. This method is commonly used for core analysis to derive porosity and fluid saturation.
