Grain density
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001725
The density of the solid mineral material that makes up a rock, excluding any pore space. It is a fundamental property used in petrophysical calculations, particularly for determining porosity from bulk density measurements. For sandstone, the grain density is typically around 2.65 g/cm3, while for limestone it is about 2.71 g/cm3.
