Dry rock
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004305
A rock sample or formation whose pore space contains only air or a vacuum, with no water, oil, or gas present. The physical properties of a dry rock, such as its bulk modulus and shear modulus, are measured in the laboratory on core plugs that have been thoroughly cleaned and dried. These dry frame properties are used as inputs for fluid substitution equations in rock physics modeling.
