Shear modulus
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003357
A measure of a material's rigidity, quantifying its resistance to being deformed by a shearing force. It is calculated as the quotient of shear stress divided by shear strain. In geophysics, the shear modulus, also known as the modulus of rigidity, is a key parameter derived from seismic data to characterize subsurface rock formations.
