Modulus of elasticity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002413
A measure of a material's stiffness or its resistance to elastic deformation under stress, also known as Young's modulus. It is defined as the ratio of stress to strain in the elastic region of deformation. In rock mechanics and geophysics, this modulus is used to characterize the mechanical properties of subsurface formations, influencing seismic wave propagation and wellbore stability.
