Elastic constants
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001258
A set of parameters that describe the elastic behavior of a material, quantifying its resistance to deformation under stress. These constants relate stress to strain and include Young's modulus, shear modulus, bulk modulus, and Poisson's ratio for isotropic materials. For anisotropic materials, a larger set of constants is required to fully characterize their elastic response.
