Lamé constant

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002115

One of two elastic moduli, denoted by lambda (λ) and mu (μ), that describe the elastic properties of an isotropic material. The first Lamé constant, lambda, relates to the incompressibility of the material, while mu represents the shear modulus. These constants are used in seismic wave propagation equations to calculate P-wave and S-wave velocities within subsurface formations.
