Xylene

An aromatic hydrocarbon solvent sometimes used in drilling fluids, primarily for cleaning operations or as a component in certain oil-based mud formulations. It is effective at dissolving oil and grease, but its use is limited due to environmental and safety concerns. Xylene is a clear, flammable liquid with a distinct odor.
