Aromatic hydrocarbon
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000181
An organic compound containing one or more benzene rings, characterized by a stable cyclic structure with delocalized pi electrons. In drilling fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons are found in some base oils, contributing to their solvency power but also potentially impacting elastomer compatibility and environmental properties. Examples include benzene, toluene, and xylene.
