Polyol

An organic compound containing multiple hydroxyl groups, used in drilling fluids as a component in synthetic base fluids or as an additive. They can function as lubricants, shale inhibitors, or components in invert emulsion systems. Glycols and polyglycerols are common examples of polyols employed in oil and gas drilling operations.
