X-signal
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004187
The out-of-phase, or quadrature, component of the signal received by an induction tool, lagging the R signal by 90 degrees. It carries information on skin effect and on the magnetic susceptibility of the formation or mud, and it is used to correct the R signal for skin effect in conductive formations. The in-phase component is the R signal, which is proportional to conductivity.
