Common source gather
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000767
A collection of seismic traces recorded by all active receivers for a single seismic shot or source activation. This gather displays the seismic wavefield as it propagates from one source point through the subsurface and is detected at multiple receiver locations. It is the primary raw data format acquired during a seismic survey.
A collection of seismic traces recorded from a single shot point by multiple receivers. This data display shows the seismic response across a range of offsets for a specific source location. It is used for velocity analysis and to identify reflections and refractions from subsurface layers.
