Plug flow

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002826

A flow regime in multiphase flow where large, bullet-shaped gas bubbles, known as Taylor bubbles, move through a liquid slug that fills most of the pipe cross-section. This pattern is characterized by intermittent flow of gas and liquid. Plug flow typically occurs at intermediate gas and liquid flow rates in vertical or inclined pipes.
