Flow structure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001486
The spatial distribution and physical arrangement of different fluid phases (oil, water, gas) as they move together in a pipe or wellbore. This arrangement, also called a flow regime or flow pattern, depends on factors like flow rates, fluid properties, and pipe inclination. Common flow structures in vertical wells include bubble flow, slug flow, churn flow, and annular flow, each with distinct pressure drop and holdup characteristics.
