Three-phase flow
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003826
The concurrent movement of oil, gas, and water as distinct but mixed phases within a reservoir, wellbore, or surface pipeline. The relative proportions and velocities of the phases determine the flow regime, such as bubble, slug, or annular flow, which affects pressure drop and equipment design. Multiphase flowmeters are used to measure the individual flow rates of each phase in real time without requiring separation.
