Slip velocity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003455
The difference in the average velocities of two distinct fluid phases flowing concurrently in a wellbore or pipeline. It quantifies how much faster one phase moves relative to another, typically the gas phase moving faster than the liquid phase. Slip velocity is a key parameter in multiphase flow modeling and production logging interpretation.
