Two-phase flow
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003959
The simultaneous flow of two immiscible fluid phases, such as oil and water or a liquid and a gas, through a pipe or porous medium. The phases interact through relative permeability in rock and through slip and holdup in pipe, so pressure gradients differ from those of single-phase flow. In a wellbore, gas and liquid flow together once the pressure falls below the bubble point and gas comes out of solution.
