Bonnet

A component of a valve that houses the valve stem, packing, and other internal parts, forming a pressure boundary for the valve mechanism. It is typically bolted or threaded to the valve body. The bonnet provides access for maintenance and replacement of the stem packing, which prevents fluid leakage along the stem.
