Blind zone

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000379

A subsurface region from which seismic reflections cannot be recorded or interpreted due to limitations of the acquisition geometry or processing techniques. This can occur beneath shallow, high-velocity layers that obscure deeper reflections, or in areas with complex geology causing signal scattering. Data in a blind zone is either absent or too noisy for reliable interpretation.
