Transition zone

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003899

The shallow belt where land meets open water, too shallow for towed streamers and too wet for conventional land crews, surveyed with nodes or cables laid on the ground and seabed. In reservoir description the same name is given to the interval above the free water level where water saturation falls from 100 percent to its irreducible value, so hydrocarbon saturation rises gradually from zero.
