Ocean-bottom cable
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002583
A type of marine seismic acquisition system where receivers are deployed on the seafloor rather than towed in streamers. Ocean-bottom cables are particularly useful in congested areas, shallow water, or around production platforms where towed streamers are impractical. They can also record multicomponent data, providing both P-wave and S-wave information.
