Four-component (4C) seismic data
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004336
Seismic data acquired using receivers that record three orthogonal components of ground motion (X, Y, Z) in addition to the pressure wave (P). This allows for the recording of both P-waves and S-waves (shear waves), providing more detailed information about subsurface rock properties and fluid content. 4C seismic surveys are often conducted in marine environments using ocean bottom cables or nodes.
