Shear-seal BOP

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003367

A type of blowout preventer (BOP) that combines the cutting action of shear rams with the sealing capability of blind rams. It is designed to cut through tubulars in the wellbore and then form a complete seal, even if the pipe is not perfectly centered. This dual function provides an emergency well control measure, particularly in situations where pipe is in the hole.
